Litany of the
Love of God

There is nothing more natural to man than to love, nothing that costs less, nothing that can be done more easily. The true objects of love are goodness and beauty, the two most powerful charms of the human heart. God is infinite goodness, beauty by essence; He is the center and abyss of all conceivable goodness and beauty; there is therefore nothing more worthy of man, sweeter to his heart, more in line with his nature than to love God.

Lord, have mercy on us.

Christ, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us.

Christ, hear us.
Christ, graciously hear us.

  • God the Father of Heaven,
may Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
  • God the Son, Redeemer of the world,
may Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
  • God the Holy Ghost,
may Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
  • Holy Trinity, One God,
may Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

  • God, who art infinite love,
We love Thee with all our hearts, O my God!
  • God, who have loved us from all eternity,
We love Thee with all our hearts, O my God!
  • God, who commanded us to love Thee,
We love Thee with all our hearts, O my God!
  • God, who loved us to the extent of giving us Thy Son,
We love Thee with all our hearts, O my God!
  • With all our soul, with all our mind, with all our heart,
We love Thee, O my God!
  • With all our strength and faculties,
    We love...
  • More than all goods and honors,
  • More than all the pleasures and joys of this world,
  • More than our acquaintances and friends,
  • More than our loved ones and ourselves,
  • More than all men and all angels,
  • More than all that exists on earth and in Heaven,
  • Only for Thee alone,
  • Because Thou art sovereignly good,
  • Because Thou art infinitely perfect,
  • Because Thou art worthy of infinite love,
  • Even if Thou had not promised us Heaven,
  • Even if Thou had not threatened us with hell,

  • Even if Thou wouldst send us crosses, trials and tribulations,
We will always love Thee, O my God!
  • In poverty as in plenty,
    We will always...
  • In happiness as in misfortune,
  • In honor and in contempt,
  • In joy and in sorrow,
  • In health and in sickness,
  • In life as in death,
  • In time as in eternity,

  • May our love resemble that of Cherubim and Seraphim!
This is our dearest wish, O my God.
  • May our love be strengthened by that of all Your Elect in Heaven!
This is our dearest wish, O my God.
  • May we love Thee with a love as pure as that with which the Blessed Virgin Thy Mother loved Thee!
This is our dearest wish, O my God.
  • May our love be inflamed by the infinite love with which Thou love us, and will love us for all eternity!
This is our dearest wish, O my God.

  • Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world,
    spare us, O Lord.
  • Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world,
    graciously hear us, O Lord.
  • Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world,
    have mercy on us.

Let Us Pray. – O God, who possesses in an infinite degree all that is lovable and perfect, and who is perfection itself, destroy and tear from our hearts every feeling and affection that would be contrary to the love we owe Thee; inflame us with a love so pure and ardent, that we love nothing but Thee, in Thee and for Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
