This rosary is recited with an ordinary rosary, composed of five decades.
The origin of this devotion lies in the revelations received by Sister Mary Martha Chambon, a Visitation nun, in the mid-19th century. Jesus asked her to associate herself with His sufferings and to promote devotion to the Holy Wounds.
Benefits of this devotion:
Jesus promises to grant whatever is requested by invoking His Holy Wounds, by virtue of the infinite merits of His Blood.
The Holy Wounds make reparation for the faults of souls who repent of them, and obtain the conversion of sinners.
This prayer is recommended for the sick, as it prepares them to receive forgiveness and mercy through the merits of the Holy Wounds.
It helps transform the sufferings of the sick into graces of purification and sanctification.
The Holy Wounds are a treasure for the relief and deliverance of souls in purgatory.
Jesus promises that there will be no death for the soul that expires in His Holy Wounds, for they give true life.
This devotion helps us to grow in our knowledge and love of Jesus.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, and of the Mother of God. Amen.
Instead of the Our Father, we say:
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the wounds of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
To heal the wounds of our souls.
For each decade, instead of the Hail Marys, we say 10 times:
My Jesus, pardon and mercy.
Through the merits of Thy Holy wounds, and the sufferings of Thy Holy Mother.
To conclude, we say 3 times:
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the wounds of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
To heal the wounds of our souls.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, and of the Mother of God. Amen.
